Biography of the Conference Chair

George O. Anderson

George O. Anderson (MIEEE, MIASTED, MBIE,) received his PhD in Electrical Power Systems Engineering from MEI in 1974. His employment experience includes Engineer in Power Industry in Ghana. He has also taught Power Systems Courses at undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Science and Technology in Ghana, the University of Benin, Nigeria, and currently at the University of Botswana. Professor Anderson was the first Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Botswana, and currently Head of Electrical Engineering Department, University of Botswana. He is a member of the Technical Standing Committee of the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED), an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Power and Energy Systems, and Chairman of IEEE Sub-Section in Botswana. Professor Anderson has published two books, and has more than seventy published research papers in international journals and in peer reviewed international conference proceedings. He has also to his credit edited works, technical reports, and consultancy works. He was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of IEEE Africon '04 International Conference in Botswana, IASTED 2006 International Conference in Botswana, and currently Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of IASTED 2008 International Conference to be held also in Botswana. His main research interests are in high voltage Engineering, Power Quality, Power Systems Protection and Security, Power Systems Economics, and Renewable Energy.
